The information on this page has been depreciated due to the fact that the major manufacturers of hard drives (Western Digital, Seagate, Hitachi etc) all provide disc disc diagnostics better than the Lenovo supplied tool. In fact the Lenovo tool was for testing only Hitachi HDDs fitted to IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad and ThinkCenter PCs.

The disc fitness test from IBM/Lenovo (that was previously) shown here is designed to work with Hitachi HDDs such as the Hitachi_DK13FA-40B, other manufacturers of drive may require a different tool.

If your disc fails then you will see an error message:
