Getting DVD43 to work on a 64 bit Operating System - I am not sure what I wish to gain from this
venture. I have developed methods to use the DVD43 on both 64 bit versions of Vista and Windows 7. I am willing to assist
those that ask to do the same, but it would seem that most visitors are more interested in just finding a 64 bit version of DVD43.
Those that just ask: "How can I get DVD43 to work on Windows 7 64 bit?" don't really seem to grasp that this is an example of what you can do with a Virtual Machine.
It would be nice to discuss the merits of format conversion from the unwieldy DVD format into forms that can be played more
easily on your computer and your mobile device.
Similarly Canon Zoombrowser for Windows 7 seems to be a favourite with the visitors to this site. (UPDATE 5 March 2010 - Canon now seem to have a
Windows7 Compatible version of Zoombrowser EX) Again, I have confirmed that
Zoombrowser is compatable with Windows 7 (for the newer model cameras at least). I have offered assistance in this area for
those who are having problems with the Canon software - CameraWindow not loading and Canon's inability to make it clear to
their customers that what they really would like is to get their past customers to upgrade their old Canon cameras for newer
models.
When I say "I CAN" write a support program to allow the importation of images from non-compatible Canon Cameras to Zoombrowser (i.e. a
direct substitute for CameraWindow [for Windows 7]), does not mean that I have written such a program or that I have any desire to do so.
I do have access to the Canon SDK's
and as such I have the technical abitity and the tools to program such a utility.
I have yet to enter into an intelligent conversation about whether TorrentPrivacy is a scam or whether it does as it claims. The month sees the increase in my Roger's excess bandwidth usage cap from $25 to $50 - I am curtailing the level at which I am allowing uploads from both BitTorrent and µTorrent (TP).
About the backdoor - it is an interesting observation that the fact that I have a "Backdoor" link on most of my pages, this seems to be seen as an invitation for the casual visitor to try and get access to the collected links on this website. In adddition to the exercise in converting DVD copies into a more convenient format, and the accumulation of "file shared" content, the question of an effective backup solution needs to be revisited. The use of Terabyte drives for "mirrors" of data drives.
