This website is NOT promoted in any way other than by "word of mouth" and the exposure of relevant (hopefully) content to search engine robots.
Current model numbers were extracted from advertisements on the chance that searchers for these models may be interested in finding other information gathered by Tempusfugit that was relevant to the search.
The scope of this "data collection" was global. Model numbers were taken from sources around the world. Issues regarding the downgrading of hardware to WindowsXP are not specific to region or particular computer models or manufacturers.
As TF is not trying to sell anything it doesn't matter if the hits on this website come from visitors that are looking for information of models that are being sold in the same region as TF. It is just the fact that this advertising information is more readily available to him.
The manufacturers and retailers of Vista wireless notebooks are particularly keen to move product, especially in the holiday season (2007), due in part to the slow take-off (and adoption by the consumer) of Windows Vista and the fact that consumers, in general, are not happy with the way that Vista performs.
In efforts to "fool" the consumer many model numbers for very similar product are generated - this site attempts to point this out!
Items will be added to this site if they cross Tempusfugit's path and he finds them of technological interest. Hence the useage of the term "Technology Muse".
Working on the principle that there is not much point in posting something that is not going to be picked up by anyone - some keywords will be added to the index pages to see if they are. If so more information will be posted. Ref: Travelocity and car rental problems.
