Installing and running Vidalia and Tor under Linux

Experiments with the use of iPlayer under Linux.

The install of Vidalia on Ubuntu Hardy Heron was made in conjunction with FoxyProxy. If you scroll down the the bottom of the graphic on my page showing iPlayer running under Linux you will see the FoxyProxy indicator in the Firefox task-bar.

TorButton was not tried in the Linux enviroment, only under Windows. However, it was found that it was just as easy to toggle firefox to use the proxy settings (as opposed to be directly connected to the Internet) than it was to use the Torbutton add-in.

The configuration for getting Tor to work under Linux is pretty much the same as it is under Windows and for the Mac.

YOU DON"T NEED TO USE FoxyProxy or TorButton to configure Tor to access BBC iPlayer programming.
