What nobody seems to make clear is that Canon have changed the way that their updater programs work. No longer is it sufficient to just modify the Windows registry and then apply to latest update.
This is why there is still a quest to find an older version and to update that.
I own previous versions of the Canon software and I am the original author of the method to modify the registry (by the use of a script) allowing the installation of Zoombrowser even if no previous version was installed.
Sure, you can download earlier versions from dubious sources you may find on the Internet. You may even be able to find a version on an official Canon site (but for how much longer?)
February 2010 this is still an on-going issue, one that has got worse now that Windows 7 is becoming the norm. is in the stores.
In addition, there are other issues relating to the installation of Zoombrowser on computers that are likley candidates for Windows 7, such as Netbooks
